1968 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE
(English translation from Danish)
For many years I?ve had a little dream, that is to get my hands into a real Mustang, the model produced in the period 1964½ to 1969. As everyone know there can be a long way from dreams to reality, unless you are lucky and meet Dan fron Dream Machines at a car auction in Vejle.
Dan explained how he works here from Denmark. He gets orders from Danish customers stating some requirements of model and year and also the condition and options. Dan makes trips from time to time to the southwestern states in the USA to find the cars that are wanted. When this happens the cars get evaluated so the cars are like the customers want them. After this he sends a description and pictures via e-mail and contacts the customer about the price and so on.
The price includes freight, duty, VAT, insurance, and customs declarations both in the USA and Denmark.
Dan and I agreed that he should try to find my dreamcar in the USA and after a couple of phone calls Dan knew what he should look for. I had the following requirements for the Mustang: original convertible, V8 289 c.i., automatic, original condition, mechanically all right and last but not least, NO RUST. Small dents and normal wear of the interior and so on would be accepted, because the car would be restored and repainted when it got home anyway.
Dan was going to the USA in the spring of 1999, and after a couple of weeks I was contacted by e-mail and a phone call. 1½ months later I am picking my car up with parts in Århus harbor. The condition of the car was as I expected and prdered, and now I can get started on a thourogh renovation. I still use Dans knowledge, since he has found a few neccesary parts for me on later trips to the USA.
I will finish saying that buying your dreamcar this way is bottomline a matter of trust. The cooperation in regaurd to my car purchase has worked perfectly and no promise at any time was broken. I can recommend making use of the experience that Dream Machines can offer, if you walk around with a little dream about the wind in your hair and a big motor under the hood.
Sincerely,
